Making a Difference
Our Partner, Kevin McCarthy is healing and inspiring children through the power of the ocean with his non-profit THERAsurf. They put on events to support the health and well-being of children with special needs, providing the opportunity for kids to experience the power of the ocean and surfing as a form of therapy.
Kevin’s role at THERAsurf started in 2010 as a volunteer helping children with special needs and their families at the events to make their day with us as enjoyable and safe as possible. Today, his work at THERAsurf is both behind the scenes and on the beach. He manages the business and works with the families leading up to the event. On the event days, he is the liaison between the families and the surfers.
I try to make it as easy as possible for parents to hand their child to a stranger, which isn’t an easy thing to do as a parent. ~Kevin McCarthy
